The Clifton Hill Children’s Great West Run

The Children’s Great West Run is a running programme designed to get you running for fun and fitness.

The programme is in three parts:

PART 1 - After-school Running Group
Your school will organise a weekly running group during term time from mid - January until the end of April.

Every week your Run Leader will take you for a run of 1 – 1.5 miles. Don’t worry if that seems a long way, you will build up your running gradually over the weeks. You will have your own personal record card so that you can see how you are improving and set yourself different challenges. Each week the distance you run will be recorded. Every week this distance will be added to your personal total. The main challenge is to try and reach an overall total of 11 miles by the end of April. When your total reaches 5 miles you will get a 5 mile certificate - when you reach the total of 11 miles you will get a FREE T-Shirt!

PART 2 - Great West Spring Cross Country Run (February 2010)

Your school may also take you along to run in the Great West Run Cross Country event in February. If you take part in this event, the distance you run will go towards your 11 mile total. Everyone who runs in this event will get a medal!

PART 3 - The Great West Family Fun Run (Sunday May 2nd 2010)
This is a huge Family Fun Run with over 1000 runners in it. You will be able to take part in this event and will get a medal at the end. The distance you run in the Fun Run will be added to your 11 mile total to make an overall total of 13 miles a HALF MARATHON DISTANCE.

All runners who achieve this distance will receive a GREAT WEST RUN MEDAL! (The exact same medal as the adult runners who compete in the main Half-Marathon)

To enter get an entry form from your school and return it to your Run Leader
